whenever的用法

whenever作副词有“无论如何”的意思；作连词有“每当；无论何时；随时”的意思。whenever引导时间状语从句表示“每当；一……就……”，与when用法相似，但whenever语气更强烈；whenever引导让步状语从句表示“无论何时”相当于at whatever time，no matter when等。

whenever的用法

一、Whenever引导时间状语从句

1、whenever引导时间状语从句表示“每当；一……就……”

（1）The roof leaks whenever it rains.这屋顶一下雨就漏。

（2）I go to the theatre whenever I get the chance.有机会我就去看戏。

2、从句主语和谓语有时可以省略。

Whenever （it is）possible,he goes to see her.只要有可能，他就去看她。

二、Whenever引导让步状语从句

1、Whenever I see him,he’s reading.我无论什么时候看到他，他都在看书。

2、Whenever I go to London I try to see Bob.我什么时候去伦敦，都设法去看看鲍勃。

3、Whenever you come,you are welcomed.你什么时候来，我都欢迎。

whenever能和no matter when有区别

no matter when = whenever引导状语从句的时候没有区别，可以相互替换，比如：

No matter when you come, please call me first.

Whenever you come, please call me first.

区别在于，no matter when 不能引导名词性从句（主语从句，宾语从句等），而whenever可以，

比如：

I don't care whenever he will come here. 这里就不能用no matter when.
