序数词的用法

序数词是数词的一种，主要在英语语法中讲到，在汉语中表示为“第几”。此外，在生日中，描述你出生的日期时，也会用到序数词。比如：May-first （5月1日）；在英语学习中，常常需要区分基数词和序数词。

序数词的用法

1、序数词前面一般要加“the”。

如The first student to come to school is usually Jim.

2、序数词前面有名词所有格、形容词性物主代词时，不再使用“the”。

如He is my first English teacher.

Li Lei's second book is old.

3、a /an+序数词+名词。

序数词前也可以使用a或an, 表示的含义是“又一，再一”，常常有语言环境。

如They have two children, and next year they will have a third child.

4、比赛或考试的名次前可省略“the”。

如He was second in the exam.

5、the +序数词+最高级：序数词之后有形容词和副词时，用最高级。

如The long river is the second longest river in China.

He ran the third fastest in his class.

6、分数：母序子基：即分母用序数词，分子为基数词，分子大于1，分母加——s.

三分之一 one third

三分之二 two thirds

带分数：整数+分数

如two and three fourths

部分分数可以使用 half 和 quarter。

四分之一 one fourth=a quarter

四分之三 three fourths =three quarters

二分之一 one second=a half

7、日期：5月5日。

读作：May （the） fifth, the fifth of May

写作：May 5, May 5th, May the fifth, 5 May, 5th May

序数词的缩写

主要缩写形式有：1-30序数词

1-10：first、second、third、fourth、fifth、sixth、seventh、eighth、ninth、tenth

11-20：eleventh、twelfth、thirteenth、fourteenth、fifteenth、sixteenth、seventeenth、eighteenth、nineteenth、twentieth

21-30：twenty-first、twenty-second、twenty-third、twenty-fourth、twenty-fifth、twenty-sixth、twenty-seventh、twenty-eighth、twenty-ninth、thirtieth。

其中1st，2nd，3rd为特殊形式，其它的都是阿拉伯数字后加th。（以1，2，3结尾是st，nd，rd。 eg:twenty-first-21st）

序数词的规律口诀

1、一二三 ，特殊记

意思是：一二三要特殊记忆，序数词一二三为：first、second、third。

例句有：She lost 16 pounds in the first month of her diet.她节食的第一个月减掉了16磅。

The second goal was disallowed. 第二个进球被判无效。

I read as far as the third chapter. 我读到了第三章。

2、五和十二很容易，f来把ve替

意思是：第五和第十二是f替代基数词中的ve再加th。

five—fifth twelve—twelfth

He finished fifth in the race. 他赛跑得了第五名。

His birthday is on February twelfth. 他的生日是二月十二号。

3、八去t ，九去e

意思是：第八和第九分别去掉基数词中的t 、e再加th。

eight—eighth nine—ninth

By the ninth hour the car was running in eighth position.比赛进行到第9个小时的时候该赛车跑在第8位。
